Overseer Justin Ross-Hillard
Executive Pastor
Overseer Justin Ross-Hillard is a servant-leader, strategist, and contemporary theologian with over 35 years of faithful Christian service. His journey began in 1989 when he accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior at Foss Avenue Baptist Church in Flint, MI, under Rev. Dr. Avery Aldridge. He was licensed to preach in 2002 at Foss Avenue and ordained in 2006 by the Father’s Council of Covenant Ministries, led by Bishop Anthony L. Jinwright and Bishop John A. McCullough II.
His ministry has spanned cities and seasons—from serving in dynamic churches in New Orleans like Greater St. Stephen FGBC and Changing A Generation FGBC-Baton Rouge, to his early appointment as Generation Now Minister at Friendship Baptist Church in Gastonia, NC, in 2005. He later founded Faith Movers Church in New Orleans in 2014, and in 2020 led its merger with The New Genesis Bible Church to form Yahweh’s House, a collaborative ministry launched in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Overseer Justin’s impact extends beyond the pulpit. As an educator and retired high school principal, he spent over a decade reshaping the lives of youth in New Orleans, gaining national recognition on CNN’s Don Lemon Show in 2020. That same year, he helped feed over 10,000 people through the 3rd Meal Initiative and was appointed by Mayor LaToya Cantrell to the New Orleans Public Library Board.
He holds a B.A. in Systematic Theology from Xavier University of Louisiana and is pursuing a Master of Divinity at The King’s University in Southlake, TX. He is also a published author and president of Grace Impact Publishing, LLC, frequently called upon to speak on faith, justice, and church leadership.
In 2021, he was appointed Jurisdictional Overseer of Louisiana and Mississippi in Mt. Calvary Holy Church of America, Inc. under Presiding Prelate, Bishop Herbert Crump, Jr. In a full-circle moment, he returned to Gastonia, NC, and, on December 7, 2024, was installed as Senior Pastor of Friendship Christian Church, succeeding the 35-year legacy of Bishop John A. McCullough II.
He and his wife, Pastor Amaris Ross-Hillard, have served in ministry together for over 15 years and are the proud parents of three children: Justin II, Payton Marie, and Harper Grace. Overseer Justin lives by Philippians 3:8—“I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord...”
